Captain Gary Bryant is the founder of Red Eye Charters and has been leading fishing trips in Gulf Shores since 1997. What started as a passion for fishing quickly turned into a full-time career built on experience, dedication, and a genuine love for being on the water.
Operating out of Fort Morgan Marina since the beginning, Captain Gary has seen the Gulf Coast fishery evolve over the years. Through changing seasons, regulations, and fishing conditions, one thing has remained constant. His commitment to helping customers catch quality fish.
With decades of hands-on experience, Captain Gary understands how to read the water, adapt to conditions, and consistently find productive fishing grounds. His combination of knowledge, persistence, and passion makes him one of the most respected fishing captains in Gulf Shores.

The Story Behind Red Eye Charters
The name Red Eye Charters comes from the early days of pure fishing dedication.
Back in the late 80s, while working through college, Captain Gary would trailer a 23-foot boat to the coast with limited time and money. Weekend fishing was the only option, and even that required careful planning just to afford fuel and expenses.
The solution was simple but intense. Leave around midnight on Friday and make the overnight drive, known as the “Red Eye run,” to reach the coast by daylight. This allowed for a full day of fishing on Saturday, a night’s rest, and another full day on Sunday before heading back home late that evening.
By Monday morning, everyone involved showed up with tired eyes and a strong case of “red eye.” The name stuck, and over the years, even as the boats changed, the commitment and passion behind it never did.

Captain John Stark brings energy, enthusiasm, and a true passion for fishing to every trip. Originally from Central Florida, he has experience across a wide range of fishing environments, both inshore and offshore.
Captain John is known for his ability to connect with customers and create a fun, engaging atmosphere on board. Whether you are new to fishing or have years of experience, he works hard to make sure everyone feels comfortable and involved.
His trips are often filled with action, and his customers consistently leave with great memories, smiling faces, and coolers filled with fresh fish. His versatility allows him to perform equally well on inshore trips and offshore charters, making him a valuable part of the Red Eye Charters team.
Captain Jake Rezner
Captain Jake Rezner was born and raised in South Alabama and has been around the water his entire life. He started fishing in Mobile Bay as a child and developed a deep connection to the Gulf Coast at an early age.
Since entering the charter industry in 2013, Captain Jake has gained experience on a wide range of vessels, from smaller bay boats to large offshore charter boats running overnight trips. This diverse background gives him a well-rounded understanding of different fishing styles and techniques.
Captain Jake especially enjoys family fishing trips. He takes pride in helping kids catch fish and creating experiences that families will remember for years. His patience, positive attitude, and local knowledge make him a favorite among families and first-time anglers.
