The Vessel
Fish Aboard the Lil Red
Our inshore trips take place aboard the Lil Red, a 23-foot Kenner bay boat designed for fishing Mobile Bay and nearshore Gulf waters. Often referred to as a 24-foot Kenner, this boat delivers impressive performance and fishability for its size.
Updated with a fresh Yamaha 300 engine and upgraded finishes, the Lil Red is built for reliability and comfort while keeping the experience hands-on and engaging.
This boat specializes in fishing waters up to three miles offshore, focusing heavily on nearshore oil rigs and productive coastal areas where fish are consistently active.
We recommend a maximum of four people on these trips to ensure everyone has plenty of space and a great fishing experience.
Beyond the Basics
What Makes Inshore Fishing So Popular
Inshore fishing is one of the best options for anglers of all experience levels because it combines ease, action, and accessibility. Using light tackle and live bait such as shrimp, every catch feels more exciting and hands-on. It is a great way to stay actively involved in the fishing process from start to finish.
These trips offer:
Calm water conditions with minimal waves
Short travel times so you can spend more time fishing
Light spinning tackle for a more interactive experience
Great opportunities for kids and first-time anglers
Nearshore Fishing Experience
Most inshore trips focus on fishing around nearshore oil rigs and coastal structures. These areas attract a wide variety of fish and provide consistent opportunities throughout the year.

The nearshore trip is a great option for anyone who wants to:
Enjoy time on the water without long offshore runs
Catch a variety of fish in a short amount of time
Experience fishing in a relaxed and comfortable setting
Whether you are new to fishing or just looking for a more laid-back trip, this is one of the most enjoyable options available.
Inshore Fishing Seasons in Gulf Shores
Fishing conditions and species change throughout the year, and we adjust our trips to target what is biting best during your visit.
January to April
This time of year focuses on sheepshead around nearshore oil rigs. Redfish may also show up, and there are plenty of red snapper available for catch and release.
May to October
This is one of the most active seasons for inshore fishing. Spanish mackerel are common, often mixed with king mackerel and redfish. Speckled trout are also a strong option depending on conditions.
November to December
As the season transitions, sheepshead begin to show up again, and there are still opportunities to catch Spanish mackerel.
On every trip, we target the species that are biting best at the time, ensuring you have the highest chance of success.
